Program Requirements for Work Based Learning Component

Students are recommended to participate in the in Work-Based Learning component of the program by their Special Education Teacher or school Counselor. Since WorkAbility is a grant funded program, funding is limited. Therefore, students whom participate in this portion of the program MUST have a recommendation filled out by their teacher or counselor. Each recommendation is then reviewed individually by the program coordinator and placement is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All students participating in the Work-Based Learning component of the WorkAbility1 program in the Perris Union High School District must fulfill the following requirements:

  • must be at least 16 years old
  • maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
  • no major behavior issues
  • maintain a good attendance record
  • a valid photo ID (school ID accepted)
  • a copy of their birth certificate
  • a copy of their social security card
  • TB / PPD Skin test within 4 yrs
  • a complete Work Permit Application B-1 (if under 18yrs old)
     

In addition, those adult participants that are 18 years or older, must also:

  • pass a health screening / drug test (paid by district)
  • get fingerprinted by FBI/DOJ (paid by district)
