My name is Leona Sibley. I am from Jamaica, Long Island, New York. I graduated from the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Arts and Science Social Sciences and I earned my Master’s degree from Boston University in Elementary Education. I have been teaching at California Military Institute for seventeen years. I teach Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Opportunity Elective, and Military Science. I am the Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach. I served one year as the 320th Battalion Advisor and two years as the BSU Advisor.  

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served 6 years of active duty and I served one year in the Marine Corps Reserve. I am a Captain in the California Cadet Corps and a member of the 9th Brigade Staff as a Support Officer. I have also served as a Survival Instructor, Officer Candidate School, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Instructor, and Senior Leadership Academy Instructor. 

In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, puzzles, scrabble, arts and crafts, and bike riding with my husband, David who is also a teacher at CMI. We have been married for over 34 years. He retired from the United States Marine Corps after 30 years of faithful service. I have a daughter, Melody, and a son, Jonathan, and four adorable grandchildren. 

I look forward to connecting with you and your family as we share this new 2023-2024 school year together. This year's class information will be located in Canvas. We will also use Google Classroom.
