Greetings Rough Riders, my name is Mr. Hoak.  2022-23 will be my 25th year teaching and 8th year at CMI.  Although I hold single subject and multiple subjects teaching credentials, I primarily teach History.   My courses are World History 7, AVID 7, as well as JROTC.  I am also the Head Varsity Football Coach here at CMI.  My promise to you and your parents and guardians is that you will be ready for 8th grade by mastering all of the 7th grade curriculum California State Standards.  To meet this goal, I will need both students and parents/guardian participation, effort, and communication.  In my classes, the expectations will be higher than your previous years in school.  While teaching standards, I will be challenging students to focus on details, be on time with assignments, and take responsibility for themselves (this is very critical for 7th grade students to learn). Overall, school is more than just learning a set of standards, it is about developing good work ethics, good habits, and making sure students are maturing in all areas of growth needs in preparation for high school. I will be using a wide variety of teaching and learning methods.  I will make sure that all learning styles have differentiated ways of having success in my classroom.  After 25 years, I can tell you the greatest way to have success is to show consistent effort.

My classes will be using Canvas as the main "Learning Management Platform".  Canvas will be used for nearly all interactive teaching, assignments and tests. Infinite Campus will also play an important factor for students keeping track of the grade progress and for parent communication.  Gmail will also be the primary form of communication until we are back in the classroom.  My contact information is located in my bio. The class syllabus will give you a detailed. guide of how my classes will operate.

A little about me personally, My family lives in Menifee. I have been married to me lovely wife Laura for 24 years.  We have 2 great sons who are in college.  My hobbies are football, family time, sports, fishing, boating, cars, and any home improvement projects.

I look forward to meeting you all very soon and getting the 2022-23 year off to a great start.  I know all of you are ready to get back to school and get back to your normal lives.  Stay focused, stay strong, and STAY MOTIVATED!  GO ROUGH RIDERS!
