My name is Debra Alvarez,  I teach Physical Education to grades 5-12.  This is the start of my 13th year at CMI.  I taught 2 years prior to that in the Hemet Unified school district. I completed my teaching credential at Azusa Pacific University. (2007) I have a Bachelors of Physical Education with an emphasis of sports science.  I graduated from Vanguard University top of my class January 1994.  I played on the the first women's soccer team at Vanguard.  I was a certified athletic trainer for 20 years.  My first 12 years I served as the assistant athletic trainer at my Alma Mater, Mater Dei High School, where I played on the women's soccer team in 1988 & 1989.  I returned to Mater Dei four years later and served as the women's assistant soccer coach and the assistant athletic trainer.  I have been happily married for the last 17 years to a 22 year veteran of the Marine Corps, Chris Alvarez.  I have 2 sons, Dale 27 yrs old construction engineer manager in Irvine CA.  He is a graduate of CSULB.  My second son is 21yrs old and currently attends  Vamguard University.   He is studying to be an investment banker. They both live with my father in Huntington Beach in my childhood home of 50 years.  I have a 6 yr old Labrador Retriever named Duke and a 6 yr old retired greyhound, Daisy who we rescued in December 2019.  They keep me busy requiring daily walks.  My current hobby is Pickle ball where I have made great friends, while enjoying my daily exercise.
