Hi, my name is Shirley Perez, and I am an Education Specialist at Liberty High School.  I am going on my 5th year teaching as teaching is a second career for me. I teach Basic English 11 and Basic English 12.  I am also the Key Club Advisor and the Freshman ASB Advisor.  I am very excited to help motivate and encourage students to follow their passion and help them transition from high school to the real world. In my teaching philosophy, I draw inspiration from the Mamba Mentality, exemplified by the late Kobe Bryant. I believe in guiding my students to pursue excellence relentlessly, develop resilience, and commit to self-improvement. Like Kobe, I encourage them to face challenges with an unyielding spirit, embrace failures as stepping stones to success, and constantly push their limits to reach their full potential. By instilling the Mamba Mentality, I aim to equip my students not only with knowledge and skills but also with the right mindset and attitude to thrive in all aspects of life.

Besides teaching, I love spending my time with my family and friends.  I am a mother of 3, and a grandmother of 2. I also am very active where I enjoy snowboarding, skating, running, and hiking.  I currently hold a Bachelors degree in Pre-Law Studies, a Masters degree in Education with a Special Education credential, and I am pursing a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership with a Special Education specialization.

I look forward to working with you and your child.
