The Heritage High Agriculture Department will consist of two state of the art “Smart” classrooms fully equipped to teach Agri Science Courses that meet California Content Standards in Agriculture, Biology & Life Science as well as Earth Science and all meet PUHSD graduation requirements and are UC/CSU recognized.

In addition to the two Agri Science Labs, there will be a Floral Design Shop where students will learn:
Design techniques and
Business practices as well as
Art History of Floral Design
These courses apply towards the graduation requirements for Visual Arts.

Classes offered in 2009 for Seniors
  • Agriculture Government Policy
  • Agriculture Economics

Students receive graduation credit and are recognized as college preparatory courses too.

Agriculture Electives

  • Computers in Agriculture - students will learn how computers have effectively increased the quality and overall production of Agriculture around the world - did you know many dairy cows are bar coded now?
  • Agriculture Leadership - will develop their interpersonal skills, train them in public speaking and also teach them organizational techniques to help them as they move on with their future educational goals.
Future Facilities

Along with the classrooms and courses, a 2 ½ acre land laboratory has been set aside and will be set up much in the same manner that many  universities are.

An Ag shop is in the process of being designed, stone fruit and citrus orchards, berry brambles and a small table grape growing area will be planted.

A large shade facility to grow landscape plants and flowers will be installed.

We are scheduled to have a complete large and small livestock breeding and market program that will consist of swine, sheep, goats, beef and dairy cattle, rabbits, poultry and game birds.

The state department of education has been notified that Heritage High School would like to submit an application to charter an FFA program. FFA is a National Agriculture youth organization consisting of nearly 600,000 high school students in every state.  These students either plan a career in the growing agriculture industry, or have an interest now in agriculture that will help them continue on to other avenues of higher education.

We hope you are as excited as we are in the Perris Union High School District about adding another Agriculture Program to our district.
