Welcome to Ceramics! This semester you will create ceramic artwork from various established methods of hand building and throwing on the potters wheel. You will also study the vocabulary / language of ceramics, through an introduction to aesthetics and a survey of historical periods in ceramics arts. Below is a list of tentative lessons for the fall & spring: Introduction to the wheel, textured slabs and drape molds, animal forms, Mexican traditional ceramics, Pueblo Pottery of the southwest, Contemporary sculpture.
