World History

This course will cover world history, culture, and geography in modern times.  Students will study major turning points that shaped the modern world.  Students will trace the rise of democratic ideas and develop an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues especially as they pertain to international relations.  Students will understand the high price that is paid in seeking democracy and also understand that democracy is vulnerable and not practiced everywhere in the world.  Current world issues will be related to history to better understand the origin of issues man faces and predict what the future may hold.  Some of the general topics we will explore are: The Ancient World, Revolutions and Enlightenment, European Imperialism, World War I, World War II, The Cold War, and Globalization.
