This is my 23rd year teaching mathematics in California and 22nd year teaching high school mathematics. I have had the honor of teaching at Heritage High School the past two years. I currently teach AP Calculus and Math Analysis all year and MSJC Dual Enrolllment College Algebra first semester and MSJC Dual Enrollment Pre-Calculus second semester at Heritage. I have previously taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 many times. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1990 and a Masters Degree in Mathematics Education from California State University, San Bernardino in 1998. I enjoy being a sports fan, beach days, body surfing, backpacking, dayhiking, fishing and spending time with friends and family. I have previously coached several different high school sports teams, including boys and girls soccer and boys and girls basketball, but won't be coaching anything this year due to teaching part-time evenings at MSJC Menifee.
I am available for tutoring almost everyday before school, almost everyday during lunch and almost everyday after school. If a student needs help, I will go out of my way to be available for help. All I ask is that students tell me in advance if they need help, so I can make sure I'm there. My best time for tutoring is after school. Usually we can identify and solve the problems students are having in a few minutes. If students need a place to study afterschool, my room is usually available.
I have a calendar in the classroom with all the homework assignments written on it. I post them in advance by the chapter, before the chapter begins. If a student is absent, they need to copy down the missed assignments and turn them in according to the district late work policy. If a student knows they will be absent in advance, they can write down the assignments in advance and do the assignments early if they wish or turn them in late according to the district late work policy.
If I can be of any help to you, please contact me at the email address above. Email is the best way to contact me, since I check it constantly and can usually reply quickly. If you call my phone number my phone in the classroom will not ring and you will need to leave a message with a clearly stated message and return phone number. I check my phone messages only after school. If you leave a phone message, I will call you back after school today or tomorrow. I hope your year at Heritage High School will be awesome!
